ACTIVITIES OF SGMEA IN 2003-04: A seminar was organized on 22 July 2003 by SGMEA jointly with United Nations Industrial Development Organization ( UNIDO) in which Mr. Jagat Shah an International Trade Management Consultant & Trainer ; in practice of management consultancy & training in the field of international trade, based in India was invited. The prime objective of the seminar was to discuss issues related to export of Sports Goods from India.

In the seminar Mr. M.K Sharma from SIDBI was also invited to explain the role of his bank for the small scale sector which was appreciated by the members.Mr. Bhattacharjee, AGM of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India spoke as an invitee of the benefits of being policy holders of the corporation.

Mr. Ajit Shah an Export Import Consultant was invited to interact with the members of SGMEA on 22^nd october,2003. The discussion focused on how to make product more competitive and explore possibility of importing jointly were discussed.

Dr. S N Chakravarty, an expert on rubber moulded items and sports goods visited Jalandhar on 29^th and 30^th Oct.,03 at the instance of UNIDO and SGMEA. A meeting with him was called to discuss the technical problems being faced by the members.

The Objectives of his visit were –

i) Provide solutions to the technological problems of sports goods industry

ii) Facilitate network based initiatives for introducing new technologies

iii) Explaining to the industry the need for training in rubber technology

He was engaged for providing his services to the Industry.

His first visit took place from 27-29 NOV, 2003 during which interested members availed his services.

Mr. Jagat Shah visited the Association once again on 4, December, 2003 to deliver a presentation on EXPORT OPPORTUNITIES OF SPORTS GOODS which proved to be a huge success among the membersThe Association is in constant touch with different departments of the Government in the Ministry Of Commerce, Finance and Industry for watching the interest of the Sports Industry. The Association holds regular meetings of their Executive Body and General Body which is making the members active and on their toes.
