 Dear friends,
The Indian sports goods industry which is mainly based in Jalandhar and Meerut has a very rich heritage of its high class craftsmanship and artisan skills of manufacturing main products of all sports related to cricket, hockey, soccer, boxing, rugby and wooden badminton and tennis rackets. The wooden badminton and tennis rackets manufacturing industry in India was totally collapsed around early eighties when the countries like China, Korea and Taiwan developed steel and aluminium rackets. It shows that any industry in the world if does not develop, diversify and up grade its technology, products and systems according to the demand of time then it can not survive for long time.
Apart from technological aspect there are so many other global issues and factors concerning to environment, social and human interests such as CSR, ISO certifications, product standard certifications and human rights etc which govern the international market, trade and industry directly or indirectly and determine our proficiencies among the global payers.
I am proud to say that our sports industry had taken all these challenges in the positive manner well in time and today almost all exporting companies in Jalandhar who are members of our association have build, expanded and up graded the infrastructure of their factories to the international standard in such a way that they have the capability and capacity of meeting any demand of sports goods of the world market.
The Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association is successfully doing all of its projects concerning industry’s betterment and development programmes and also handling day today industry’s internal and external problems in a very effective way and the credit of this all goes to the blessings and guidance of our senior members and to the active and dynamic participation of our young generation.
I wish all the best to all members of SGMEA and all those who are associated with our sports goods industry.
